Dental crowns in Turkey, without losing more tooth than you need to
Crowns can rescue a broken tooth or rebuild a worn smile. They can also wreck healthy teeth if they are used as a shortcut to a whiter look. We are Precious Dental, a licensed clinic in Antalya. A crown is a cap for the whole tooth. That's the point, and the catch.
To make room for a crown, the dentist shapes the tooth down on every side. A lab study that weighed teeth before and after preparation found that crown preps removed roughly 63% to 72% of the visible part of the tooth, against about 3% to 30% for veneers. That tooth does not grow back. Once it has a crown, it needs a crown for life.
So the first question is never "zirconia or E-max?". It is "does this tooth need covering at all?" For a cracked, broken, root-filled or heavily filled tooth, a crown is often the best way to protect what is left. For a healthy tooth that is just a bit yellow or uneven, whitening, bonding or veneers usually do the job with far less drilling.
The "Turkey teeth" stories in the UK press are mostly about the second case: rows of healthy teeth crowned for colour. We would rather lose your booking than do that.

"Crowns and veneers are the same thing."

A veneer covers the front of a tooth. A crown covers the whole tooth, so much more of it is drilled away. Some clinics call crowns "full veneers", which is why it pays to ask. Crowns vs veneers.
"Zirconia is always the best crown."
Fact
Zirconia is very strong, but on a front tooth E-max often looks more natural. A 2026 review found similar five-year survival for both when made as solid (monolithic) crowns. Crown types.

How much do dental crowns cost in Turkey at Precious Dental?

Are crowns the same as "Turkey teeth"?
"Turkey teeth" is slang, and most of the bad stories behind it involve crowns put on healthy teeth. A crown covers the whole tooth, so the tooth is shaped down all the way round. That is fine for a broken or heavily filled tooth, and a poor deal for a healthy one. See what crowns do to your teeth.
Zirconia or E-max: which should I choose?
Zirconia is the stronger material and suits back teeth, bridges and people who grind. E-max lets more light through, so it often looks more natural on front teeth. Many smiles use both. See crown types.
How long do I need to stay in Antalya?
