The crown trip, step by step
Crowns at Precious Dental are done in one visit to Antalya. Most of the deciding happens before you fly, on your phone. Here is what each stage involves, and what to sort out before you book.

Before you travel, you send photos or an X-ray and receive a free written plan. In Antalya the dentist examines you and takes X-rays, treats any decay or gum problems first, prepares and digitally scans the teeth, then you check the crowns at a try-in before they are fixed. Zirconia packages include 5 hotel nights and transfers; E-max cases usually take about five to seven days. Flights are not included.

Before you fly: decide at home
You start by sending us photos of your teeth or a recent X-ray. Good photos are taken in daylight: a natural smile, a big smile, your teeth together from the front and each side, and the upper and lower teeth from above and below. A dentist looks at them and you get a written plan: which teeth need what, which material, why, and the price in pounds. Teeth that don't need crowns are listed as left alone or treated more lightly.
The plan is free and you don't have to book. It is provisional, because some things (hidden decay, cracks, the state of old fillings, the health of a tooth's nerve) only show up when the dentist examines you and takes X-rays in the clinic. If the plan changes, you get the change in writing and decide before anything is done.

- Agree dates with your coordinator first, then book your own flights to Antalya. Flights are not included in our prices.
- Airport and clinic transfers and hotel nights are included in packages. Zirconia packages include 5 nights; your plan gives the nights for your case.

In Antalya
- Examination and X-raysThe dentist checks every tooth and your gums, takes X-rays, and confirms the plan with you. This is the moment to ask questions about any tooth you're unsure about.
- Treat what needs treating firstDecay, infection or gum problems are dealt with before anything is crowned. Crowns on unhealthy foundations fail early.
- Preparation and digital scanUnder local anaesthetic, the teeth that need crowns are prepared. They are then scanned with a digital scanner instead of a tray of impression paste. The scan goes to the design stage.
- Design and makingThe crowns are designed on screen and made. Zirconia crowns are milled and then fired; E-max crowns are finished and glazed.
- Try-inYou see the crowns in your mouth before they are fixed. Check the shape, length, shade and how your bite feels. Look in daylight, not just under the clinic light. If something is not right, now is the time to say.
- Fitting and final checkThe crowns are fixed in place, excess cement is removed, and the bite is checked and adjusted. You get your aftercare instructions and guarantee.
Between appointments
You will have free time between appointments. Antalya has the old town, the harbour, beaches and plenty of places to eat. A few practical points: after local anaesthetic, wait until the numbness wears off before eating or hot drinks so you don't bite your cheek or burn yourself. Ask your dentist what to avoid while any temporary crowns are in. And go easy on the first evening after preparation; your teeth may feel sensitive.
Flying home
Most people fly home the day after fitting or soon after. Before you leave, make sure you have your written aftercare, your guarantee details and a copy of your X-rays. In the first weeks, your bite may feel slightly different; if it feels high on one side, it usually needs a small adjustment. See if your bite feels high after new crowns and aftercare and longevity.

Common questions
How many days do crowns take in Turkey?
At Precious Dental, zirconia crowns are done in one visit and our packages include 5 hotel nights. E-max crowns usually take about five to seven days. Your plan gives your dates.
Will I need a second trip?
Not for crowns in a normal case. A second trip is only needed if something unexpected comes up, such as a tooth that needs longer root canal treatment, or for guarantee work later.
Does it hurt?
Teeth are numbed with local anaesthetic while they are prepared. Afterwards the teeth may feel sensitive or the gums a bit sore for a few days; that usually settles. Tell the dentist if pain is getting worse rather than better.
Can I go to the beach and go out in the evenings?
Usually yes, between appointments. Ask your dentist about eating, drinking and alcohol after each appointment, especially on the day of preparation and while any temporary crowns are in.
What do I need for entry to Türkiye?
Check the current rules on GOV.UK's foreign travel advice for Turkey before you book. Entry rules can change.
Can someone come with me?
Yes, many people travel with a partner or friend. Ask your coordinator about the hotel room when you book.
